      The Canon Pixma MG3600 printer takes the PG-540/CL-541 and the XL cartridges

      These are different series printers that take different cartridges.

  • do you have to fit 2 compatable cartridges at the same time or can i fit i fit 1 canon cartridge and 1 compatible cartridge together

    BOUGHT COMPATIBLE COLOR CARTRIDGE FITTED TOGETHER WITH CANON CARTRIDGE. COS ALL MY LIGHTS FLASH WHEN I TRIED IT.HAVING REAL TROUBLE WITH IT AND ONLY PRINTS ABOUT 20 PAGES A4 BFORE RUNS OUT AGAIN. SO DO I HAVE TO FIT 2 CARTRIGES OF THE SAME MAKE OR CAN I MIX AND MATCH FOR CANON MG 3050 PIXEL . IT SAYS FINE ON THE ORIGONALS COULD THIS BE WHY IT WONT EXCEPT THE CARTRIGES. PLEASEHELP

    • Sorry to hear you are having a problem with the colour cartridge.

      There is no reason that you shouldn't be able to mix original with non originals. We advise not to mix with set up cartridges.

      If the cartridge is reading as low please try the below advise:

      Canon printers have no way of looking inside the cartridge or detecting fresh ink. Instead the cartridge just monitors how many pages have been printed and the average page coverage since it was first installed into a printer. From this information your printer estimates the ink level of the cartridge and when it believes the ink cartridge is running low/empty will present you with the “Check Ink” , "Low ink" or a support code 1686 or 1688 message. As a result of this way of estimating ink levels, even an original Canon ink cartridge will almost certainly have some ink left when your printer warns you it is empty.


      Canon printers allows you to continue printing with a single button press and will usually give this prompt in a fairly sizable message once it detects that the cartridge may be empty. Simply hold down your printers STOP/RESET/RESUME button for five seconds and then release. Whilst the name with which the button is referred to may change, the symbol it is represented with will always remain the same, ( A circle with an upside down triangle inside).

  • Is the own brand as good as canon original cartridges as there is not much difference in price so may as well pay £3-4 more for genuine ink.
