Modern Day Slavery Statement 2022

This statement outlines the actions of The Cartridge People Ltd taken to understand the potential risks modern slavery has to its business and the steps in place to ensure no human trafficking or slavery is involved either in the business itself or its supply chains.

Who we are

We are one of the largest online retailers of printer ink and toner cartridges in the UK, offering deals on printer consumables to homes and businesses since 2001. Registered and operated in Crewe, Cheshire, The Cartridge People Ltd offers outstanding levels of service in addition to money saving offers to reduce the amount consumers and businesses spend on printer consumables and office supplies.

Supply Chains and Due Diligence

The Cartridge People Ltd assesses all of our supplies to ensure that they have an ethical business practice that consists of strong labour regulation. Directors and key purchasing personnel have visited the sites where there is a high risk of slavery and human trafficking (using the global slavery index) to assess whether suppliers are complying with modern slavery legislation.

Addressing Supply Chain Risks

The Cartridge People Ltd is committed to acting ethically and with integrity, to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere within our business and we expect our supply chain partners to comply with our approach.

Prior to working with manufacturers (suppliers), The Cartridge People Ltd carries out a due diligence investigation to ensure that the suppliers have their own clearly defined ethical working practices, including compliant anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes, within their businesses, and confirmation that they comply with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act is required. Any instances of non-compliance are addressed and appropriate remedial action is implemented on a case by case basis.

Zero Tolerance

The Cartridge People Ltd has a zero tolerance to human trafficking and slavery and will never knowingly work with suppliers and organisations who are involved in this.

Training

In addition to communicating our Slavery Statement with all areas of the business, it is important that key staff undergo anti-slavery training so that we can continue to better assess the risks in our suppliers.

Further Actions

Going forward, we will look to:

  • Continue to ensure that we maintain our levels of ethics and integrity by providing training to staff who have an interface with our supply chain partners and that they are encouraged to report any concerns in this regard.
  • Continue to obtain information from new suppliers on processes and policies they currently use to tackle modern day slavery and human trafficking.
  • Continue to ensure new and existing suppliers complete a self-assessment anti-slavery questionnaire to ensure all local slavery and human trafficking laws are being complied with.

This statement is made in accordance with section 54 (1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our company’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year, ending 31/12/2022.
